The Challenge
Africa is experiencing an increase in below par waste management endemic, and the globe is poised for significant social and economic changes over the next century as its population grows, cities urbanise, and consumer purchasing patterns shift. This is projected to lead to exponential development in garbage creation.
Each year millions of tonnes of clothes are created, used, and thrown away. Each second, the equivalent of a waste truck load of clothing is incinerated or buried in landfill. The majority of plastic and paper packaging is discarded after one use; about 95% of the value of plastic packaging material, which is valued between USD 80 and 120 billion annually, is lost to the economy. Paper and plastic packaging will never be reused or recycled until significant redesign and innovation occur.
Waste management accounts for up to 20% of municipal budgets.
32% of plastic packaging ends up as litter in areas not serviced by waste collection systems.

This is significantly more crucial than professional experience or academic credentials; thus, explain why you care and how your concept might have a meaningful influence. Bring your concept to life by including a prototype or mock-up with your submission.
At INHAF, we believe that creativity should be encouraged and that everyone should be given a platform to develop ideas, resulting into a better society for all of us. The INHAF challenge recognizes and enlists teams working on waste management and recycling projects.
